About Us
We are Jacob and Kalin Brown. We started BHF in the Winter of 2017. Our farm, located outside of Weston, raises Horned Hereford and Texas Longhorn cattle and feeds out locally sourced pigs and chicken.
Jacob is a row crop farmer, and comes from a background of raising commercial hogs and cattle. He is a graduate of The Ohio State University in which he uses his agricultural degree in raising our animals. He uses science and his knowledge in feeding our animals, the most natural feed combinations to strive for quality meat. Jacob also grows the corn and hay that is fed to our cattle.
Kalin is an accountant and a graduate of BGSU. Her family consists of several generations of livestock farmers. She was also Wood County's Beef Ambassador in 2008, representing the Wood County Beef Producers at the local county fair and sharing her knowledge with the youth of Wood County.

We raise Horned Herefords because Kalin's grandfather and great-grandfather both raised them. The Texas Longhorns were introduced to Kalin by her parents who bought their first longhorns in 1998. Growing up, she showed Texas Longhorns and then once she became a 4-H member, she purchased her first Horned Hereford. We raise these breeds to supply a high quality, well-marbled, flavorful beef for a superior eating experience that our customers have come to enjoy.
